What are DPPM, FIT, and MTBF?

DPPM (Defective Parts Per Million): A ratio calculated by dividing the number of failures returned from the field by the number of products shipped. FIT (Failure In Time): Defined as the number of failures for every 1,000,000,000 hours of operation. MTBF (Mean Time Between Failure): The amount of time until equipment malfunction.This index is normally used for equipment that is repeatedly fixed. | |
